No.9
Available at:
The 23rd of October 2009 saw the release of Wende’s first full English-language album with the name No.9. It is her most personal work as of yet, she wrote and produced all of the songs herself with the help of her musical mainstay Jan van Eerd. No.9 represents experimental drive. No.9 represents fire, loneliness and the search for a personal connection. Communicating through her own lyrics and music. Sprung from inspiration gathered across the world and, once back home in Amsterdam, transformed into song. Naked. Close. Along with Jan van Eerd and Reyn Ouwehand she compiled it all with No.9 as the result.

Chante

Wende, with her third album, presents the fruit of labor from her first five years on the stage. Chante (September, 2008) is a live-CD with DVD: live recordings from her intimate theater-show, and a DVD with the open air concert that Wende gave along with the Metropole orchestra in Amsterdam in September 2007. Wende at her best, performing with her musicians in-front of an audience, live in concert. Intense, theatrical and authentic.
Chante contains new interpretations of the work familiar from her first two albums and a series of songs that have become a part of the live-repertoire but were previously unreleased.

La Fille Noyee
Available at:
After the enormous success of the first album Quand Tu Dors. and the Wende tour across the Dutch theaters, Wende took six months off to gather and write new material. As with her debut Wende combines existing chansons from the 30’s, 40’s, 50’s and 60’s with new material on La Fille Noyée. Apart from the works of Jacques Brel and Barbara and from the legendary writers-duo Jacques Prévert and Joseph Kosma, there is room for Kurt Weill (in French), Satie and film score composer Nino Rota on the new album. The new material comes from her hand, but called in the help of poets and composers. Wende recorded a duet with Huub van der Lubbe (written by Wende and Huub) and collaborated with Sebastiaan Koolhoven as producer and several of the arrangements.
For the first time the listener is introduced to lyrics written by Wende. Besides singing in French this album also contains several chansons sung in the Dutch language. For the new album Wende successfully tries to create a new sound. She gathered a group of wonderful musicians around her, added strings, horns and drums and called in the help of 52 piece Metropole Orchestra. Together they support the both explosive and sympathetic chansonière whom takes her audience on an moody, touching, theatrical, intelligent, poignant, comforting and stimulating musical adventure.

Quand Tu Dors
Available at:
On June 4th Wende presented her first album in the Panama club (Amsterdam, the Netherlands), in September she started her first tour across the theaters. The basis of her debut album, which Wende would rather have made later on in her career, was found in her live repertoire; a combination of classics (Ne me quitte pas and La valse a mille temps from Brel, La solitude and Le mal de vivre from Barbara and Paif’s Padam padam) and lesser known pieces (Bécaud’s Je t’attends, Piaf’s Je sais comment, Brel’s Ça va) from the literary chanson. Besides that Wende familiarized herself with the works of the famous French poet Jacques Prévert and added music to several of his pieces. This is how Wende’s versions of Je suis comme je suis, Quand tu dors en Fiësta (which is part of 28 aoùt 99 on the album) were created.
Teacher Joost Prinsen pointed out to Wende that Je suis comme je suis had been very successful for Juliette Gréco, to the music of Joseph Kosma. It didn’t withhold Wende to put her own composition on the album, very dissimilar from the Gréco version. Wanting to add a Dutch language song to her repertoire, she chose one of the most famous (and beautiful) chansons of Dutch origin: Telkens Weer, by Friso Wiegersma and Ruud Bos. The French version of Chaque Fois turned out to be the signature piece on this incredible debut album.
A bold and cheeky CD on which the original compositions are in no way inferior to the classics, which Wende has made her own. Wende presents herself as an important promise for the future in the steadily decreasing list of chansonières. After Ute Lemper there is finally another: Wende.
